Andrew Demko worked hard to translate the famous Master Tanto into an everyday carry folding design and his solution is the Oyabun. Retaining the clean lines of the original design, the Oyabun offers a modern flipper deployment, safety-backed leaf spring liner lock and compact, easy to carry design. This version comes with a satin finished 4034 stainless steel Tanto blade and gray and black Griv-Ex/Kray-Ex polymer handle.
Brand new, direct from Cold Steel.
Blade: The Oyabun retains the iconic Tanto point blade with a high hollow grind for powerful slicing and a robust, flat ground tip for piercing and detail work. The blade has a stylish and sweeping design highlighted by the satin finish and deploys via an integral flipper tab.
Handle: Durable, lightweight and economical gray Griv-Ex polymer scales are inlaid with high traction checkered black Kray-Ex rubber inlays that pair with the tapered handle design for a secure and comfortable grip. The stainless liner forms a strong leaf spring liner lock that is backed up by a secondary slide safety for a lock that is extremely resistant to shock and impact while being easy to operate with one hand. A generous hole is provided for lanyard attachment.
Carries via a right hand, tip-up stainless steel pocket clip.
4034 Stainless Steel: A German equivalent to AISI 420HC, 4034 is a stainless steel that provides excellent rust resistance, ease of re-sharpening and moderate edge retention while being exceptionally tough for a stainless steel. Performance in edge retention can approach VG10 based on heat treat.
