The Gerber Key Note is a multi-purpose key chain cutting tool that packs a surprising amount of utility into a compact and easy to carry package. The blade is can be deployed with a starter tab and secured open with the nail nick or opened with two hands like a traditional folder. The beefy, chisel-like blade offers both a scraping and a cutting edge. The Key Note can be carried in multiple ways: on the belt, in pocket, or on a keychain. This version comes with a black blade, coyote brown handle and green pivot collar and backspacer.

Blade:Â The sub-1 inch blade is stout and compact offering one inch of forward edge for scraping tasks with a secondary edge of about a half inch for general utility cutting. The forward edge also works well for utility tasks such as making cuts on a flat surface and opening boxes. The blade rides on bronze washers and can be opened two-handed via the nail nick or, utilizing the starter tab, the blade can be opened with a one-handed thumb roll technique.
Handle:Â A black stainless liner forms the simple and reliable liner lock mechanism and supports one of the Gerber Shield shaped aluminum handles. The handles are milled with grooves for traction and a finger cutout and installed split ring enhance traction and security in the hand. Open construction makes for easy cleaning and maintenance.
Carries via a right hand, tip-up, stainless steel deep carry pocket clip or included stainless steel split ring.
